Learn about ViraxImmune™ by exploring these frequently asked questions (FAQs) about our novel immune diagnostics platform.

What is ViraxImmune™?

The ViraxImmune™ platform is an adaptable test designed to detect the body’s immune response to a range of conditions associated with chronic inflammation and T cell exhaustion. It achieves this by utilizing peptide pools to activate memory T cells and measure specific cytokine profiles.

ViraxImmune™ is designed to address multiple diseases and research needs by providing unparalleled insights into complex diseases and infections. It aims to analyze the activation of cells involved in the immune response, delivering a level of information potentially unmatched by competitors.

ViraxImmune™ works by utilizing peptide pools to activate memory T cells. It then measures specific cytokine profiles (such as IL-2, IL-6, IL-1β, IFN-γ, and TNF-α) related to various infections and immune functions, using the established FluoroSpot detection method.

The ViraxImmune™ panel includes cytokines such as IL-2, IL-6, IL-1β, IFN-γ, and TNF-α. These cytokines are relevant to immune function and can provide insights into T cell exhaustion and chronic inflammatory conditions.

The ViraxImmune™ platform will be available initially for research use only (RUO) prior to in vitro diagnostics (IVD) approval.

Immune profiling is critical for understanding the body’s defense systems. ViraxImmune™ offers a comprehensive approach to immune profiling by providing insights into both the innate and adaptive immune systems, particularly focusing on the role of T cells, memory T cells, and T cell exhaustion.

T cell exhaustion is a state of reduced T-cell function that can occur due to persistent infections and chronic antigen stimulation. This phenomenon is observed in chronic infections (e.g., CMV, RSV) and is an area of research in post-viral syndromes like Long COVID and ME/CFS. ViraxImmune™ helps detect cytokines associated with T cell exhaustion, aiding in the understanding of immune dysfunction.

FluoroSpot is an advanced technique that allows for the simultaneous detection of multiple cytokine-secreting cells at the single-cell level. It offers high sensitivity and multiplexing capabilities, complementing traditional approaches like ELISA and and flow cytometry, thereby offering valuable insights for early diagnosis and treatment intervention.
